MOVIE QUOTES
I love movie quotes. That's where I came up with the name for my blog - Goin' Bowling - from THE BREAKFAST CLUB. I tried to find the exact quote, but couldn't. When one of the kids finds out their dad does the same thing as another kid's dad, he says something like that they should hold hands and go bowling. It's funny what quotes stick in your mind when you watch a movie.
My husband and I are always saying movie quotes to each other. One time I was in a bit of a stressful situation that lasted a little over a week. Whenever I would complain about it to my husband he would say to me, "Just smile and wave boys, smile and wave" which is from MADAGASCAR, and is a quote by the Captain of the Penguins.
Another one of my husband's favorite quotes is from JOE VERSES THE VOLCANO. Megan Ryan says to Tom Hanks: "I have no response to that." My husband will say that to me when he really doesn't have an answer to a question I ask him and also just because he thinks he is so funny. :0)
Gilbert Girl's daughters love to quote from movies. If you get them started, both of them will regale you for quite awhile with their movie quotes. The oldest loves to quote from MADAGASCAR II when King Julian is trying to get someone to sacrifice themselves to the volcano in hopes that it will bring their water back to the watering hole. They don't understand how the sacrifice works, so He says: "My sacrifice goes in the volcano, then the friendly gods eat up my sacrifice...Mmmm, very nice...Thank you for the sacrifice...Please have another sacrifice!...No, I had enough for today...Listen, I'm going to be very upset if you don't have another sacrifice!...I don't want another sacrifice, okay!?!...Look at you, you're look skinny!...No! I think I've had enough! Is that clear?"
The last time I got on a plane, I thought of another movie quote from MADAGASCAR II. It is when the monkeys and penguins finally get the airplane fixed and they are getting ready to fly it. The Captain says over the speaker: "Pray to your personal god this hunk of junk flies."
My husband has a friend who is always quoting this line from TOMBSTONE. Virgil is trying to explain the new gun law: "I ain't saying you can't carry a gun. I ain't saying you can't own a gun. I'm just saying you can't carry a gun in town."
I went to a couple of websites about the most famous movie quote of all time. In the 3 sites I went to, 2 of the websites had #1 and the other had #2:
1) Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn - Rhett Butler in GONE WITH THE WIND
2) Bond...James Bond - James Bond movies

My husband and I have a couple we always say. If we are trying to use something that doesn't work, we use the quote from Back to the future. Michael J. Fox knocks on the door of Doc Brown. He comes to the door with a contraption on his head that makes him telepathic. After asking Michael J. Fox a question to see if it works, he says, "Do you know what this means?? It means this thing doesn't work!" We are always quoting that one.
There is another one from a Bill Murray movie, but I can't remember it right now.
Mom, here's that breakfast club quote - "I think your old man and my old man should get together and go bowling."
Here's some of my favorite quotes - from "The Hot Chick" where a teenage girl and a 30 something guy switch bodies, this is kinda random but it just cracks me up he says "It's me!! Jessica!!"
From Baby Mama - "B**** I don't know your life!"
From the tv show Obsessed (about people with OCD)- "Tell me what your anxiety level is?" and "Rub your face on it"
From Elf - "I'm sorry I ruined your lives, and crammed eleven cookies into the VCR."
From Batman (I don't say this one alot but I like it) - "This town needs an enima."
From Shrek - "We can stay up late, and watch scary movies, and in the morning, I'm making waffles!"
From Elf (you have to sing this one) - "I'm singing! I'm in a store and I'm singing!"
I was waiting to comment cuz I couldn't think of any at the time I read your blog. My friends and I always quote things from Fifth Element with the robot bartender, "You-want some more?" in a robot voice. And when she is just learning to talk and she makes the chicken, "Chicken-Good!" And when they're at the airport, "Lilu Dallas, multi-pass." "She knows its a MULTI-PASS."
We also quote Rush Hour a lot. When the villain falls off the building, "Woo! You know ya dead!"
From Clue, "This is WAR, Peacock!"
I could go on but I'll leave it at that. :)
Two quotes I like are from Harry Potter1 and are from Hermione. I like to quote her with the same tone and inflection when she says, "What. An. Idiot." when Harry flies off on the broom after Draco the first time he ever flies. I also loved it when she said,"We could have been killed! Or worse, expelled."
I also quote Dorrie in Finding Nemo when there is a snag in the works -"Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
