WHEN CHALLENGER FLIES

My mother-in-law sent me a link to this video about an American Eagle who was blown out of his nest during a storm and raised in captivity. Since he was raised in captivity he couldn't be released back into the wild, so this guy trained him to fly within closed places like football stadiums. When you watch the video, make sure you read the parragraph about the eagle at the beginning. His name is "Challenger" after the Space Shuttle.

When I lived with Grandma, I used to travel to Inklings house every so often. As I crossed over the mountain, there was a place right by where that road met the freeway where a bald eagle used to always be. There were highway signs that he liked to perch on. There was a pair, and I saw at least one of them each time I drove over that mountain.

I love seeing them fly. I really think that even if this nation had not picked it to be their national symbol, they would still be among one of the most majestic birds in the world.

I loved the picture of President Bush looking in awe at the bird flying around the stadium....
